“Sports Tenugui” evolved from the traditional tenugui, which is deeply rooted in Japanese life, to suit modern sports and outdoor scenes. Because the fabric is slowly woven on a traditional shuttle loom, it is not subjected to stress, resulting in a soft texture that is both durable and flexible.
The weft yarn uses bamboo rayon, which has stretch properties and superior water absorption and quick-drying properties compared to cotton, while the warp yarn uses conventional cotton fiber. The drape unique to rayon gives it a high-quality feel.
The edges are not folded back (doubled) to avoid compromising quick-drying properties, but are finished with a lock stitch to prevent fraying using only thread. The size is 110cm long, allowing it to be wrapped twice around the neck or easily around the head. Weighing approximately 47g, it is lighter than a towel of the same size, offering excellent portability. It is suitable for outdoor activities such as hiking and trekking where you want to reduce luggage.
